Moree Plains Shire Council is seeking a highly motivated individual to work within the Corporate and Community Services Department as the Manager Legal and Governance.
- Permanent Full-Time – 35 hours per week

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Manager Legal and Governance will be required to provide a high level of support to the Director Corporate and Community Services and assist the Director to discharge their statutory responsibilities. The role will work in partnership with others within the organisation to achieve annual goals, programs and projects of the office of Corporate and Community Services and the office of the General Manager.

ABOUT YOU
Council is looking for someone who has the following qualities, experience and/or qualifications:
- Tertiary qualification at degree level in Law.
- Demonstrated experience in:
- interpreting and applying legislation
- preparing complex legal advice
- drafting transaction documents (e.g., contracts and deeds).
- managing complex and contentious correspondence and complaints.
- Ability to implement best practice investigation processes when directed by the General Manager.
- Ability to lead and coordinate teams, support and develop direct reports and promote a culture of integrity and high performance.
- Demonstrated ability in dealing with highly confidential and/or sensitive information.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment in prioritising issues, clearly demonstrating a proven ability to produce high-quality work delivered to meet Council’s deadlines
