Moree Plains Shire Council is seeking a highly motivated individual to work within the Library Services team to provide quality local studies collection and research service to the community.
- Permanent full time – 35 hours per week
- Location - Moree
- Attractive Salary starting from $1,119.50 - $1,287.70 (PLUS Superannuation) depending on qualifications and experience
- Rostered day off every 3 weeks - an extra 17 days off a year!
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Local Studies and Digitisation Officer will assist with the provision of quality local studies collection and research service to the community.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- To facilitate access to Local studies information through the comprehensive indexing of local newspapers, the cataloguing of new resources, and the regular interrogation of online resources for relevant content.
- To promote Local Studies resources through exhibitions, displays and outreach activities.
- To provide effective library and customer services at all library service points.
Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award 2023.

ABOUT YOU
Council is looking for some who has the following qualities, experience and/or qualifications:
- Certificate IV Library and/or Information Technology and/or Tourism and/or relevant experience in the GLAM sector (Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums) or other relevant qualifications / experience such as teaching /education.
- Strong understanding and knowledge of the local area.
- Experience in local studies and digitisation including preservation of materials.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work both as a team member and unsupervised.
- Highly developed customer service skills to deliver to a diverse range of people including, children, young people, older people, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
- Demonstrable level of competence with Internet applications and digital technology platforms that are likely to be encountered in the library (smart phones, tablets, laptops and e-readers).
