General Maintenance Hand

Moree Plains Shire Council is seeking a highly motivated individual to work within the Infrastructure Team as the General Maintenance Hand.

  • Permanent Full-Time – 38 hours per week
  • Location - Moree
  • Attractive Salary ranging from $1,088.80 up to $1,248.95 (PLUS Superannuation) depending on qualifications and experience
  • Rostered day off every 2 weeks - an extra 26 days off a year!

ABOUT THE ROLE

The General Maintenance Hand will be required to:

  • Ensure that small-scale repair and maintenance jobs are done promptly and to industry standard.
  • Jobs are prioritised based on risk to the public, workers or the organisation.
  • Work independently including on remote sites.
  • Identify and report when repair jobs are symptomatic of an underlying problem.
  • Support and work with other maintenance staff where more than one person is required on a job.

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award 2023.

ABOUT YOU

Council is looking for someone who has the following qualities, experience and/or qualifications: 

  • Practical experience within the building industry with complementary qualifications at a sub-trade or higher level.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to follow instructions and communicate clearly.
  • Sound understanding of general Work Health and Safety (WHS) principles.
  • Ability to keep accurate records and undertake basic mathematical calculations/measurements.
  • Demonstrated competency level computer skill base to conduct effective workplace measurements and reporting.
  • General Construction and Induction card
  • Current NSW Class C Driver Licence (Manual)
