Disability Support Worker

Support at home and in the community is required for a kind, intelligent and well-read lady living in Baringa. She enjoys reading and has a friendly ageing German Shepherd. Living with a Musculoskeletal condition, PTSD and other medical and cognitive challenges, she requires support to sustain independent living and to reconnect with her community. She is looking for an experienced, mature female support worker who is also fond of dogs.

Shifts:

  • Weekday and Weekends:  4 -5 hour shifts between the hours of 8am and 5pm
  • Ad-hoc shifts requiring longer support for excursions / overnights
  • Flexibility / availability to pick up additional shifts as needed

* Workers must be able to provide reliable and consistent support *

 Staff rates:

  • Monday to Friday 6am to 8pm shift - $37.08 per hour
  • Monday to Friday 8pm - 6am shift - $41.53 per hour
  • Saturday - $51.92 per hour
  • Sunday - $66.75 per hour
  • Public Holidays - $81.59 per hour
  • Sleepover allowance $80.00 per shift

Experience and attributes:

  • Understand the fundamental nuances of good support
  • Be willing to learn the person’s in-home processes
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Be an active listener with excellent attention to detail and ability to retain information
  • Demonstrate a high level of patience
  • Be organised, intuitive, adaptable, enthusiastic and encouraging
  • Assist in maintaining organisation / life admin
  • Have an excellent understanding of domestic hygiene & traditional cooking skills
  • Work autonomously when needed, while also being able to identify when more direct communication is required to stay on task

Requirements:

  • +3 years’ experience in disability support work
  • Happy to wear a mask when providing in-home support
  • Happy to be around / feed and walk large dog
  • Open Driver’s license and own vehicle with insurance
  • Current First Aid Certificate & CPR
  • NDIS Worker Screening (or willing to obtain)
  • Blue Card (or willing to obtain)
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate (or willing to obtain)
  • Live within reasonable travelling distance
  • Able to work in a smoke free environment
  • Flexibility to pick up additional hours when needed
