The Role

This position is responsible for maintaining identified Council facilities, keeping them in a manner appropriate to the facility’s use.

A typical day may involve:

  • End-to-end coordination of planned and reactive maintenance across all Council facilities.
  • Attending to client enquiries and collecting work orders.
  • Coordinating contractors, granting access permits and collecting relevant documentation and certifications.
  • Managing work requests, purchase orders and invoicing.
  • Monitoring correct waste disposal and recycling practices.
  • Interacting with internal and external facility users to meet their usage requirements through preparation, setup and disassembly of infrastructure and assets, and ensuring access.
  • Setting up meeting rooms and A/V equipment for on-site events.
  • Upholding exemplary standards of customer service, maintaining clear communication with Council staff, client stakeholders and external contractors.
  • Undertaking regular inspections of facilities and equipment, ensuring compliance with Essential Service Manuals (ESM), Council risk management and asset maintenance schedules.
  • Maintaining Material Safety Data Sheets information updates and storage.
  • Supervise cleaning contractors through regular facilities inspections and report issues to Team Leader Building and Facilities Maintenance.
  • Complete electrical safety checks on all relevant equipment, as per the guidelines.
  • Undertake regular cleaning and minor maintenance tasks in facilities and surrounds.
  • Work with Building and Facilities Maintenance team to deliver minor projects and facilities maintenance.
  • Undertake regular building inspections to identify damage, risks or maintenance issues using appropriate council systems.

Selection criteria

  1. Good eye for detail to assist with cleaning contractor audits and maintenance identification.
  2. Demonstrated ability to develop positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  3. Demonstrated experience in the supervision of staff, contractors or leading a team.
  4. Ability to identify and prioritise tasks and workload with minimal supervision.
  5. Availability to complete some out of hours work when required.
