The role
An exciting opportunity is now available for an experienced planner to join our Strategic Planning Team as Team Leader – Policy.
This role will be responsible for the effective and efficient leadership of the Policy Team within the Strategic Planning Service Unit through providing specialist advice in the planning and delivery of Council’s performance objectives and requirements.
Key accountabilities:
- Effectively and efficiently plan and manage the operations of a team of Strategic Planners and other professionals to achieve performance objectives, requirements and expectations to agreed performance standards.
- Develop, implement and promote Council’s land use and development related planning policies, and to deal with strategic planning and management issues as directed.
- Respond to State and Federally led changes to land use and development related planning policy positions and directions
- Ensure core Council and State planning policies and environmental sustainability are key elements in all urban planning issues and act in accordance with legislative requirements.
- Communicate policies and strategies effectively to the community during their preparation, exhibition and implementation stages.
- Provide timely and effective policy and strategy advice to support Council’s planning and development functions and effectively handle and resolve complex issues.
- Provide guidance and assistance to elected Councillors, Council staff and the community on strategic planning land use policy and strategies.
- Present Council’s position to external bodies such as the Local Planning and Regional Planning Panels, Independent Planning Commission and other statutory bodies and tribunals.

Salary Range: $127,551 to $152,301 pa + 11% superannuation + $1,000 pa transport allowance
35 hours per week with access to flexi-time
