The role
The Arborist role is a senior position within the Urban Forest Management Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of functions including, but not limited to, undertaking tree maintenance works in accordance with industry best practices, adhering to and enforcing Work Health & Safety regulations, distributing tasks and assisting fellow team members, and operating and maintaining various plant and equipment.
This permanent position will be based at the Parks & Gardens depot located in St Leonards Park in North Sydney, close to public transport and recreational facilities.
The ideal candidate will have qualifications and experience in arboriculture/horticulture and not be afraid to roll up their sleeves to get stuck in to hard work!
Essential
- Cert III Horticulture (Arboriculture) or equivalent
- Demonstrated experience in arboriculture practices, with a focus on pruning and removal of trees
- Working near powerlines certification for works near overhead powerlines (old 5099)
- Qualifications and experience in the safe use of a chainsaw
- WHS Construction Induction Training (White card)
- RTA - Traffic Control Certificate or willing to undertake
- First Aid Certificate or willing to undertake
- Chemcert certificate or willing to undertake
- Current MR Drivers Licence
- Work Cover Elevated Work Platform Certification (EWP)
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Good communication skills
- Demonstrated experience in the use and operation of a large tree chipper
Desirable
- Cert IV Horticulture (Arboriculture) or equivalent
- Demonstrated experience in a supervisory role
- Computer literacy

Salary from: $69,880 to $83,250 per annum (including industry allowance) + 11.5% superannuation + $1,000 pa transport allowance + Uniform Provided
76 hours per fortnight with a rostered day off
