Digital Communications Specialist
Job No:
NSYD408
Location:
North Sydney
North Sydney Council administers the North Sydney local government area on Sydney’s picturesque lower North Shore. Our 400 employees look after 77,000 residents spread across 10 square kilometres of land on the foreshores of Sydney Harbour providing spectacular harbour views, beautiful parklands, and a bustling CBD.
The role
We’re looking for an innovative and skilled Digital Communications Specialist to join our Communications and Engagement Team and bring Council’s projects, services, and stories to life across our digital platforms. This role is perfect for someone passionate about creating engaging and forward-thinking content that resonates with a diverse audience. If you have a talent for web and social communication and experience in producing compelling, accessible and readable content, this could be the perfect fit for you.
As our Digital Communications Specialist, you’ll stay on top of the latest social media trends to ensure our content and platforms remain relevant and engaging. You’ll be responsible for driving high-quality communications across our digital channels, including Council’s website, enewsletters, and social channels, with a focus on enhancing the customer experience and expanding our digital presence.
With a keen interest in the evolving digital landscape, you’ll be eager to elevate engagement, optimise content for accessibility, and continuously improve our online presence. We’re looking for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, eager to share insights and knowledge across the Council.
Key responsibilities include curating and preparing web content, coordinating contributions from various departments within the Council, and ensuring our website is accurate, consistently styled, and adheres to accessibility guidelines. You’ll also monitor website performance, recommend improvements to enhance the customer journey, and keep a close eye on all digital communications for further optimisation.
The ideal candidate will have solid experience in digital communications, strong knowledge of website technology (preferably with experience in a content management system), and the ability to seamlessly integrate web and social media content. Attention to detail, creativity, and excellent writing skills are essential for this role.
This is a 35-hour-per-week position, with usual hours from Monday to Friday, however due to the nature of the role, out-of-hours work will also be required.
If you’re ready to make an impact and bring your digital communication expertise to our team, we’d love to hear from you!
