We have an exciting new opportunity within our Strategic Planning team. As a key player in our dedicated team, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of the beautiful North Sydney area.

 
The role 

This role provides an opportunity for an enthusiastic planner who is keen to gain valuable experience in development contributions and planning agreements.

You will be part of the Strategic Planning team which guides jobs and housing growth via planning instruments, place-based planning studies, heritage management and other planning policy. The team also provides placemaking and design guidance on built form and open space projects to create safe, vibrant and welcoming places. 

You will be responsible for undertaking research, preparing advice, monitoring growth, developing and administering development contributions policies and negotiating planning agreements. There may also be opportunities to be involved in a range of strategic planning strategies and projects.

 

What we're looking for 

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic Developer Contributions Planner with a passion for delivering infrastructure and public benefits for the community.

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Town Planning, Finance or related discipline(s)
  • Knowledge of planning legislation and practice
  • Experience in reading and interpreting planning related instruments and policies
  • Experience in assisting with the development of planning strategies and policy
  • Demonstrated report-writing skills and clear oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated mediation, negotiation, customer service and team skills
  • Computer literacy- spreadsheet, word processing and database creation and management
  • Experience in managing, drafting or stakeholder involvement in development contributions planning and/or planning agreements (Desirable)
  • Experience in co-ordinating multi-disciplinary working groups (Desirable)
  • Local Government knowledge or experience (Desirable) 
  • Research and analytical skills (Desirable)

Salary Range: $98,277 to $117,291 per annum + $1,000 pa transport allowances + 11.5% superannuation 

35 hours per week with access to flexi time
