North Sydney Oval Operations Assistant

Job No: NSYD472
Location: North Sydney

Are you passionate about sports, events, and venue operations? North Sydney Council is seeking an enthusiastic and organised Operations Assistant to support the effective day-to-day operations of the iconic North Sydney Oval. An exciting opportunity to become an integral part of the team at one of Sydney's most iconic sporting venues. In this role you will get to work with a wide range of domestic, state, and international sporting codes, helping to establish North Sydney Oval (NSO) as a leading venue and sporting destination in NSW.  You will help support meaningful change, continuous improvement, and stakeholder engagement to promote new opportunities and growth at the Oval.  Proudly owned and operated by North Sydney Council, our aim is to ensure NSO is a welcoming, safe, and professionally operated complex for all workers and visitors to enjoy.

North Sydney Council administers the North Sydney local government area on Sydney’s picturesque lower North Shore. Our 400 employees look after 77,000 residents spread across 10 square kilometres of land on the foreshores of Sydney Harbour providing spectacular harbour views, beautiful parklands and a bustling CBD. Our aim is to ensure North Sydney remains a welcoming, well-designed, safe and beautiful environment for residents, workers and visitors.

The role

In this hands on role, you will play a key part in supporting the Coordinator, North Sydney Oval Operations, by assisting with facility coordination, administrative tasks, and stakeholder liaison—helping to uphold the Oval’s high standards and ensuring it continues to serve both the local community and visitors effectively.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Administration and coordination of maintenance, setup, and logistics for events and daily operations.
  • Support the Coordinator, North Sydney Oval Operations, in the delivery of scheduled sporting fixtures and community events.
  • Liaise with sporting bodies, contractors, Council staff, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth and professional venue operations.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and scheduling documentation.
  • Contribute to the overall presentation, safety, and accessibility of the facility.

The person

We’re looking for someone who’s highly organised, great at solving problems, and a strong communicator who works well with others. You’ll need to be proactive and ready to jump in to help with events and day-to-day venue operations, with the ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders. Experience in facility operations or venue management is a plus, and if you’re passionate about sport, live events, and making public spaces come to life, you’ll fit right in.
