North Sydney Council administers the North Sydney local government area on Sydney’s picturesque lower North Shore. Our 400 employees look after 77,000 residents spread across 10 square kilometres of land on the foreshores of Sydney Harbour providing spectacular harbour views, beautiful parklands and a bustling CBD.
The role
As the Events Officer – Venues and Outdoor Spaces, you will be at the forefront of coordinating and administering third-party events across the North Sydney LGA. Your expertise will assist the events team in delivering an exciting and diverse annual events program that brings the community together.
You will also be responsible for ensuring that all event applications are complete with required plans, documentation, traffic plans and fees submitted. While on-site, you will coordinate the attendance of site managers at complex events and collaborate closely with event operators to ensure seamless execution in alignment with agreed-upon plans. Additionally, you will contribute to the development and review of the Public Events Policy and Guidelines, working in consultation with Council staff and event operators to ensure relevance and effectiveness.
This role will also involve providing valuable insights and support in the creation of Council reports that advocate for third-party events, aligning them with community benefits and the overarching Council Events Strategy, along with seeking approval for key events that promise to enrich the community and enhance the region's cultural landscape.

The person
You are a proactive and highly organised individual with a proven track record in event coordination. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of event planning processes, including risk management, compliance, and stakeholder engagement. With exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, you will excel at liaising effectively with both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring seamless collaboration and the successful execution of events.

it is an essential requirement of this role that a Police Clearance and Working with Children Check (WWCC) is conducted. It is an offence under NSW legislation for barred workers to apply for or otherwise attempt to obtain, undertake or remain in child-related employment.
Salary up to $96,000 per annum + 11.5% superannuation + $1,000 pa transport allowance
35 hours per week with access to flexi time
