People Experience Officer
Job No:
NSYD499
Location:
North Sydney
North Sydney Council administers the North Sydney local government area on Sydney’s picturesque lower North Shore. Our 400 employees look after 77,000 residents spread across 10 square kilometres of land on the foreshores of Sydney Harbour providing spectacular harbour views, beautiful parklands, and a bustling CBD. Our aim is to ensure North Sydney remains a welcoming, well-designed, safe and beautiful environment for residents, workers and visitors.
The Role
We’re looking for a friendly, organised and proactive People Experience Officer to join our People and Culture team. This is a central role that helps ensure our employees receive clear, timely and helpful support from the moment they join Council.
You’ll be the first point of contact for HR enquiries—whether by phone, email, or in person—triaging requests, handling routine matters, and referring more complex queries to the right specialist. You’ll process employment changes such as contract variations and secondments, keep our HR systems up to date, and ensure records are accurate across the employee lifecycle.
You’ll also support a range of people initiatives including onboarding, wellbeing, diversity, and engagement activities. Whether you're managing inboxes, sending out internal communications, or helping coordinate employee feedback tools, your work will contribute to a more connected and consistent employee experience.
The Person
You’re someone who genuinely enjoys helping others and getting things done right. You bring strong attention to detail, great communication skills, and a natural ability to stay organised. You’re confident using systems, understand the importance of data accuracy, and take pride in responding quickly and professionally. Most importantly, you bring a people-first mindset to everything you do—no question is too small, and no task too routine.
Why work at North Sydney Council?
We're committed to creating a diverse, inclusive and positive workplace.
