The role 

We are currently seeking a highly motivated Swim School Team Leader to join our new NSOP team. The successful applicant will be responsible for the effective leadership of NSOP Swim School, ensuring consistency in program delivery and staff and customer satisfaction.

As Team Leader, you will be the face of the Swim School, managing the day-to-day operations. You will assist the Coordinator Aquatic Programs to promote, develop and grow the Learn to Swim program. A key function of this role is to lead by example as you cultivate and maintain positive relationships with team members, swimmers, teachers, parents, and the broader community.

The person 

You’re a confident and capable leader with a strong background in aquatic operations and a true passion for fostering growth in both people and programs. With a focus on delivering safe, efficient, and top-quality services, you lead by example and bring a deep operational understanding to everything you do. You excel in a team-driven, community-focused setting, where collaboration is key.

Your leadership approach is proactive and supportive—you inspire your team, address challenges with a calm, solutions-oriented mindset, and take pride in ensuring every session runs seamlessly. Always striving for improvement, you understand that safety, compliance, and customer satisfaction are at the heart of every decision, and you work tirelessly to uphold these values. 

 

Essential Criteria 
  • Hold current qualifications recognised in NSW as a Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety (Austswim / Royal Life Saving / Swim Australia)
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certificates.
  • Demonstrated experience in a swim school leadership role, contributing to its growth and development.
  • Minimum of 3 years teaching experience as a qualified swim teacher or coach.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with successful experience in providing excellence in customer service.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and with limited supervision.
  • Be able to satisfy the requirement of the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012 and Child Protection (Working with Children) Regulations 2013 and provide a current NSW Working with Children Clearance; and adhere to Workplace Health and Safety requirements. 
 
Desirable Criteria 
  • Extension qualifications (Austswim / Royal Life Saving / Swim Australia) in the following areas: Infants and Preschool, Adults, Competitive Strokes, Access and Inclusion 
  • Broad knowledge of Learn to Swim from infant swimming to Squads 
  • Experience and knowledge of Local Government practices, regulations and policies

Salary from: $82,263 to $98,226 per annum + 12% superannuation + $1,000 pa transport allowance 

76 hours per fortnight with a rostered day off
