North Sydney Council administers the North Sydney local government area on Sydney’s picturesque lower North Shore. Our 400 employees look after 77,000 residents spread across 10 square kilometres of land on the foreshores of Sydney Harbour providing spectacular harbour views, beautiful parklands and a bustling CBD.

 

The role 

We are currently seeking a highly motivated Team Leader Assessments to join our professional development services team. The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting the Service Unit Manager, Development Services to effectively and efficiently manage the operations of the Department to achieve best practice urban outcomes, while meeting Council’s performance objectives and process requirements. As a leader, you will effectively and efficiently plan and manage the operations of a team of Statutory Planners and other experts to achieve performance, built environment and best practice customer service outcomes.

 
The person 

This role will suit a planner or related professional with extensive experience as a Team leader with a focus on development assessment.  A thorough knowledge of the NSW Planning system including the Land and Environment Court and the merit assessment of development applications will be vital to your success.   A can-do attitude and the ability to convey complex information in a simple way through strong written and verbal communication is required. Someone with a keen eye for detail and the ability to approach situations to achieve a solution-based outcome while putting yourself in the customer’s shoes would be well placed in applying.

 

The ideal applicant will thrive on taking on new challenges relating to a broad range of planning issues typical of a busy inner-city area, whilst being able to think critically and effectively prioritise and manage multiple complex tasks. The demonstrated ability to be flexible and work with others to achieve best practice outcomes will be highly regarded. The ability to bring new ideas to the table, while demonstrating a high level computer literacy and a detailed knowledge of recent planning reforms including the NSW Planning Portal will be well regarded.

Salary from: $135,976 to $162,361 per annum + 12% superannuation + $1,000 pa transport allowance 

(Market allowance may be negotiated with the successful candidate) 

35 hours per week with access to flexi time
