Senior Lifeguards
Job No:
NSYD563
Location:
North Sydney
Full Time and Part Time
She's back! Be part of something extraordinary at Sydney’s most iconic aquatic and leisure facility.
This is your chance to dive in and be part of the next chapter at North Sydney Olympic Pool - a world-class aquatic and fitness destination beneath the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Following her redevelopment, this Australian legend is set to redefine leisure industry excellence, and we’re seeking passionate individuals to help shape the culture and deliver outstanding experiences for our community.
North Sydney Council proudly owns and operates North Sydney Olympic Pool as part of its commitment to the vibrant North Sydney local government area on the city’s picturesque lower North Shore. With around 400 employees supporting 77,000 residents across 10 square kilometres of harbourside land, Council is committed to creating exceptional places and services that bring people together. You’ll join a dedicated team working in a safe, inclusive environment — where both staff and the community can thrive.
The role
We are seeking motivated and experienced Senior Lifeguards to join our NSOP team. This position plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day aquatic operations of the facility, ensuring the safety, supervision, and positive experience of all patrons.
Unlike a standard lifeguard position, the Senior Lifeguard at NSOP provides on-shift leadership—supporting Duty Managers and guiding the Lifeguard team to maintain high standards of safety, professionalism, and customer service. You’ll assist with task allocation, rotations, and break scheduling, while acting as a key point of escalation for operational matters during your shift.
During your shifts, you’ll support incident response, maintain compliance with all relevant policies and procedures, and contribute to the smooth and efficient running of the facility. You’ll also assist with plant room operations, water quality management, and ensuring all areas meet required health and safety standards.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a facility from its opening—helping to establish strong operational foundations, contribute to a positive team culture, and set the benchmark for safety and customer experience.
The person
You’re a confident and capable lifeguard with strong experience in aquatic supervision and a natural ability to support and guide others. You bring a proactive attitude, strong situational awareness, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for all patrons.
You lead by example—supporting your team, communicating clearly, and responding calmly and effectively in high-pressure situations. You take pride in your work, contribute positively to team culture, and are committed to continuous improvement in both safety and service delivery.

- Current Pool Operations Certificate.
- Experience and knowledge of Local Government practices, regulations, and policies
