North Sydney Council administers the North Sydney local government area on Sydney’s picturesque lower North Shore. Our 400 employees look after 77,000 residents spread across 10 square kilometres of land on the foreshores of Sydney Harbour providing spectacular harbour views, beautiful parklands and a bustling CBD. The role
As the Team Leader for Urban Design, you will assist the Manager of Strategic Planning in managing a talented team of professionals. Your expertise will guide the development and implementation of strategic urban planning policies and design projects that prioritise environmental sustainability and community needs. You will also engage with the community throughout all stages of project development, ensuring transparency and open communication.
In this role, you will:
- Develop comprehensive urban design policies and guidelines that align with best practices.
- Lead project delivery, ensuring timely execution and adherence to budget constraints.
- Provide expert urban design advice on key planning proposals, development applications and public domain projects.
- Manage and mentor your team, fostering a collaborative and rewarding work environment.
The person
We are looking for a passionate and experienced urban design professional who is ready to leverage their skills to create a lasting impact on the urban environment of North Sydney.
The successful candidate will bring strong stakeholder management and problem-solving skills, a proactive and positive approach to delivering key projects, and highly developed interpersonal and communication abilities, along with the ability to effectively lead a successful team.

Salary from: $135,976 to $162,361 per annum + 12% superannuation + $1,000 pa transport allowance
35 hours per week with access to flexi time
