Join our dedicated team at North Sydney Council as a part-time Assistant Procurement Officer and play a key role in supporting our procurement activities.
North Sydney Council administers the North Sydney local government area on Sydney’s picturesque lower North Shore. Our 400 employees look after 77,000 residents spread across 10 square kilometres of land on the foreshores of Sydney Harbour providing spectacular harbour views, beautiful parklands and a bustling CBD.
The role
We are seeking a dedicated part-time Assistant Procurement Officer to support the smooth day-to-day operation of Council’s procurement activities. In this role, you will help maintain compliance with relevant policies and regulations, while contributing to efficient, transparent and sustainable procurement practices that deliver value-for-money outcomes for the North Sydney community.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring procurement activities are undertaken in accordance with Council policies, WHS guidelines and relevant statutory requirements.
- Maintaining accurate, complete and accessible procurement records to support audit, reporting and compliance obligations.
- Working collaboratively with internal stakeholders to understand procurement needs and support sourcing and supplier engagement activities.
- Assisting with supplier onboarding, including setting up new suppliers in payment, contract and document management systems.
- Processing internal orders and maintaining supplier profiles across procurement systems.
- Providing support to staff in relation to requisition and invoice approval processes.
- Assisting with the continuous improvement of procurement procedures, systems and practices, including asset disposal processes.
- Preparing and supporting procurement reporting and analysis for management review.
The Person
To be successful in this role, you will bring a proactive and positive approach, along with a sound understanding of procurement processes and compliance requirements. You will have strong organisational and communication skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to work effectively with a range of internal stakeholders. Experience using procurement, finance or contract management systems will be highly regarded.

Salary Range from: $34.66 to $41.36 per hour + transport allowance + 12% superannuation
