We are on the hunt for a passionate Public Tree Management Officer to join our dynamic team and play a pivotal role in nurturing our stunning urban forest! North Sydney Council administers the North Sydney local government area on Sydney’s picturesque lower North Shore. Our 400 employees look after 77,000 residents spread across 10 square kilometres of land on the foreshores of Sydney Harbour providing spectacular harbour views, beautiful parklands and a bustling CBD.
The role
Take the next step in your career as a skilled arborist to help protect, manage and enhance Council’s urban forest. In this role, you will provide technical arboriculture advice, respond to community enquiries and support projects that contribute to a safe, sustainable and attractive public tree network across North Sydney.
Key responsibilities include:
- Inspect and assess Council trees in line with relevant policies, strategies and customer requests.
- Provide specialist arboriculture advice to staff, contractors, consultants and members of the community.
- Support construction, maintenance and urban renewal projects that may impact Council’s trees.
- Coordinate tree management projects, including street tree enhancement and planting programs.
- Respond to customer enquiries and maintain accurate records in Council’s systems.
- Contribute to continuous improvement, risk management and implementation of Council’s urban forest policies and strategies.
The person
You will bring tertiary qualifications in arboriculture, strong technical knowledge of tree assessment and management, and the ability to provide practical advice to a wide range of stakeholders. We’re looking for someone who is customer-focused, organised and confident working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Salary Range from: $99,181 to $118,429 per annum + 12% superannuation + Tool-of-Trade Leaseback vehicle
