North Sydney Council administers the North Sydney local government area on Sydney’s picturesque lower North Shore. Our 400 employees look after 77,000 residents spread across 10 square kilometres of land on the foreshores of Sydney Harbour providing spectacular harbour views, beautiful parklands and a bustling CBD. The role
As our new People & Culture Advisor, you’ll play a key role in delivering frontline HR support and driving consistent people practices across the organisation. Reporting to the Service Unit Manager – People and Culture, you’ll provide first-level advice on policy, Award interpretation, performance management, and general employee queries.
You’ll assist with employee relations documentation, maintain accurate case records, support compliance activities, and contribute to workforce projects and learning initiatives. You’ll also assist in coordinating return-to-work cases with support from the WHS Manager.
This is a hands-on, fast-paced role that touches all aspects of the employee lifecycle. From onboarding and policy application to reporting and workforce improvement, you’ll be part of a collaborative People & Culture team that values clarity, consistency, and care in everything we do.
The Person
You’re approachable and responsive and you take pride in providing clear, helpful advice while supporting managers and staff in a welcoming, respectful and professional way.
You bring a solid foundation in HR and understand the importance of consistency, follow-through, and confidentiality when handling people matters.
You’re confident working with policies, Awards, and systems, and you’re always looking for ways to improve the employee experience.
Whether you’re helping someone navigate a process or responding to a tricky question, you bring patience, clarity, and a strong customer service mindset to every interaction.

Salary Range: $105,221 to $125,642 per annum + $1,000 pa transport allowance + 12% superannuation
