Join North Sydney Council as the Team Leader for Corporate Planning and Risk, where you will drive the development and enhancement of our strategic planning and risk management functions. 

North Sydney Council administers the North Sydney local government area on Sydney’s picturesque lower North Shore. Our 400 employees look after 77,000 residents spread across 10 square kilometres of land on the foreshores of Sydney Harbour providing spectacular harbour views, beautiful parklands and a bustling CBD. The role 

Reporting to the Service Unit Manager Corproate Governance, you will lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of Council’s corporate planning and enterprise risk functions.

You will play a pivotal role in ensuring Council has clear and effective structures for integrated planning, performance reporting and risk management, providing the Executive Leadership team and oversight bodies with meaningful insights to support informed decision-making.

A key focus of the role will be embedding strategic risk into corporate planning and decision-making, creating greater transparency around how Council identifies, manages and responds to risks on behalf of the community.

You will lead Council’s IP&R processes, including the Community Strategic Plan, Delivery Program, Operational Plan, Annual Report and quarterly performance reporting, ensuring these are developed collaboratively, meet legislative requirements and effectively communicate Council’s progress to the community.

You will also lead the enterprise risk function, overseeing risk frameworks, risk registers, reporting, insurance and claims management, as well as business continuity and crisis management arrangements.

 

The person

The ideal person is an experienced corporate planning or risk professional with strong judgement and high integrity.

You understand enterprise risk management and corporate planning in a local government in NSW. You are confident working with executives and can interpret legislation, translate it into clear advice, and apply it in real-world situations. 

To be successful, you will have experience, influencing and growing organisational capability and improving corporate systems. You know how to balance compliance with good decision-making and culture.

You are organised, calm under pressure, and comfortable managing competing priorities through taking ownership and setting a strong example.

Salary from: $114,979 to $137,295 per annum + $1,000 pa transport allowance + 12% superannuation  

35 hours per week with access to Flexi time
