Balaclava Veterinary Surgery has been operating in Cairns for over 30 years. We serve not only the Cairns Region, but also the Cape York communities and beyond, with a range of services from training and preventative health care through to medical and surgical procedures.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Veterinarian to join our dedicated team. The position on offer is a full-time role and rotational after hours will be required. We are looking for someone with the with energy and drive to make a real difference, with a commitment and passion for quality practice and high standards of care, along with a great team spirit. The successful applicant will also have the advantage of working with 2 highly experienced vets who have a special interest in orthopaedics and have had many years’ experience mentoring new graduates. This role will be primarily based at Balaclava Veterinary Surgery, with one shift per week at our sister clinic located in Mossman.

What you can offer us:

  • BVsc or equivalent, and registration to practice in Queensland
  • A confident Veterinarian with at least 2 years’ practical experience, although new graduates will also be considered
  • A commitment to provide exceptional patient care
  • Ability to oversee the caseload and work autonomously
  • Exceptional communication and client relationship building skills.

This position offers a negotiable base salary range of $52,000 - $90,000, dependant on the suitable applicant’s skills and experience. Whilst NVC seeks to source applicants who meet the above criteria and skill set, alternative applicant’s may still be considered. In these cases, the base salary is subject to change to suit.
