Nyangatjatjara College currently has unique and exciting opportunities for experienced and impassioned Secondary and Primary Teachers to teach Anangu students from remote Central Australian communities. This is a fantastic opportunity to leverage the level of literacy, numeracy, and opportunities whilst enjoying extensive rewards and few outgoings. 

Your primary objective will be to develop and deliver a broad, balanced, and culturally appropriate curriculum that is suited to the needs of all students. 

You will apply relevant, evidence-based pedagogical strategies that cater to the needs of remote Anangu youth, encouraging a learning experience that affords opportunities to our students. As such, this role presents equal parts challenge and enrichment. 

Some of your key responsibilities include (but are not limited to): 

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons that foster improvement in learning outcomes and prepare students for employment;
  • Ensure all learning styles are considered with an empathetic and pragmatic approach;
  • Ensure literacy, numeracy, and information communication technology are central in the teaching and learning experience;
  • Source and liaise with stakeholders to facilitate pre-employment opportunities for students.

About Your New Team

Nyangatjatjara College opened its doors for the first time on July 21st, 1997. In the first five years of its life, the college grew from one building to multiple buildings at four campuses, based in the communities we serve. We provide secondary education across three remote communities and primary education in one (Docker River). Our college is on Anangu country and our students and families speak Pitjantjatjara as their first language - English is often their third or fourth language.
