About the Program
Pioneer Centre is a safe, supportive and respectful community for adults living with mental health challenges and is located on the Sydney Northern Beaches. Programs delivered by Pioneer Centre include employment and education, social events and a number of stimulating group activities that are designed to support recovery. The team at Pioneer Centre is comprised of Mental Health Recovery Support Workers reporting to the Program Specialist.
 
About the Role
As a Mental Health Recovery Support Worker you will assist people with mental health support needs on their journey of independence, purposeful coping, and self-management. The role will deliver recovery-oriented centre-based group activities and individual services, to meet the goals of the people we support.

Your skills and experience

  1. Minimum of Certificate IV in a relevant discipline (e.g. mental health, peer work, disability) or equivalent experience
  2. An understanding of the recovery- based approach to assisting people with severe and persistent mental illness
  3. Demonstrated values consistent with person-centred ways of working and supporting the person’s choice and control.
  4. Knowledge of the NSW mental health system and local services
  5. Ability to communicate effectively interacting with stakeholders
  6. Demonstrated computer literacy to use Microsoft programs and the capability to learn other applications.
  7. Ability to exercise personal responsibility and work as part of a team, reporting to the Program Specialist.
  8. Current driver’s licence and access to a fully insured motor vehicle.

One Door Mental Health requires all staff to have a Police Check clearance, a current Working with Children's Check and NDIS Worker Screening clearance and appropriate COVID-19 Vaccination.
