St Vincent de Paul Society Canberra/Goulburn (Vinnies) has been serving the local community since 1924. This is your opportunity to contribute to the development and implementation of the Vinnies’ programs for youth and young adults.
The Position
The Youth and Young Adults team is a growing and vibrant part of the Society in Canberra/Goulburn that covers all aspects of engagement with young people in the work of the Society, promoting social justice advocacy in schools and tertiary institutions and works alongside youth members and volunteers to deliver respite and support programs.
We are looking for energetic and values driven person to join our high performing team as a Youth Liaison Officer for Student Engagement. The Youth Liaison is responsible for implementing, encouraging and coordinating activities to motivate youth and young adults to engage with the Society, primarily through engagement with tertiary institutions. This includes highlighting social justice advocacy, raising funds and implementing innovative conference models to grow Society membership and meet community needs. Responsibility for the coordination of Youth Programs’ volunteers is also an essential component of this role.
This includes participating in youth camps, respite activities and Conference meetings to support all stakeholders. You will utilise your understanding of young people from diverse backgrounds, passion for social justice advocacy, as well as knowledge and experience in engaging with youth and young adults’ volunteers.

You will have a tertiary qualification or equivalent in a human service-related field such as community welfare, social work, youth work, education, youth ministry, or related discipline.
All employees must undergo a police record check and to successfully obtain or hold a Working with Vulnerable People Card (WWVP). You must also hold a current Driver’s License and First Aid Certificate (or willingness to attain within 3 months).
