Utilities Officer

 About the Opportunity

The Utilities officer reports to the Assets Manager and is directly accountable to the Director of Corporate Services; and is responsible for ensuring the Puntukurnu Aboriginal Medical Service (PAMS) Newman premises and designated accommodation are kept clean and tidy in accordance with infection control and AGPAL accreditation standards, along with PAMS policies and procedures.

 About You

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of workplace health and safety protocols, particularly pertaining to cleaning operations within a health service context.

• Good understanding of WH&S issues related to cleaning.
• Knowledge of health service cleanliness standards.
• Proficiency in operating cleaning equipment.
• Ability to maintain a clean and organised environment independently.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Desirable criteria include:

• The person identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and is acknowledged as such by their community;
• Previous experience in commercial/office/clinic cleaning.

The position involves working with a multicultural organisation where the majority of staff, clients and stakeholders identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. Candidates must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

 About the Organisation

The Puntukurnu Aboriginal Medical Service (PAMS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service located in the East Pilbara region of Western Australia and provides comprehensive and culturally appropriate primary health care services to the Martu people of Newman and the four remote Aboriginal communities of Jigalong, Parnngurr, Punmu and Kunawarritji.

Our passionate and multidisciplinary team of qualified and experienced health professionals including GPs, Remote Area Nurses and Aboriginal Health Workers provide holistic and high quality health care clients throughout the region.
