Who are we?

Wintringham is a not-for-profit organisation that provides aged care services to those who are financially disadvantaged, have previously been homeless or are at risk of becoming homeless. We employ over 830 staff and our Food Services Production Kitchen, located in Avondale Heights, prepares delicious and nutritious meals for our Residential Aged Care sites and Community Aged Care meals program.

 

Your new role

We are currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic person Trade Cook / Chef to join our Food Services Team on a Part Time – Fixed Term basis ending on the 25th of November 2022, to cover a period of leave.  This position will suit you if you are looking to join a progressive and innovative team that is committed to providing a high quality hospitality service to our residents and clients.

Reporting to the Executive Chef, you will prepare and cook appetising nutritious meals for residents and staff. You will also contribute to recipe and menu development and all aspects of this dynamic and exciting service.

What we will need from you:

  • A Chef/Catering Qualification is essential (Minimum: Food Handling Certificate Level 1. Preferred: Food Safety Supervisor).
  • Previous experience in a cook / chef role is vital, and candidates with previous experience in an aged care environment will be looked on favourably.
  • Experience working with Cook-Chill method is highly advantageous.
  • Be able to demonstrate a high level of preparation/cooking/presentation skills
  • Have a strong understanding of food safety and HACCP.
  • Experience in volume catering.
  • Well developed communication skills and the ability to work and contribute as a team player
  • Experience in a supervisory role and the ability to work independently essential
