Who are we?

Wintringham is a not-for-profit organisation that provides aged care services to those who are financially disadvantaged, have previously been homeless or are at risk of becoming homeless. We employ over 830 staff and our Food Services Production Kitchen, located in Avondale Heights, prepares delicious and nutritious meals for our Residential Aged Care sites and Community Aged Care meals program.

 

Your new role

Wintringham is currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Food Services Assistant to join our Food Services Team on a Permanent Part Time basis to work Monday to Friday across a variety of shift times. Shifts available include: 0630-1430, 0700-1430, & 1100-1900. This role will undertake a range of general kitchen duties such as food preparation, cooking and service of food, ensuring that meals are nutritious and well presented. 

 

Your responsibilities and duties will include:

  • Assists the Food Services Team to ensure to that the food services program complies with the food safety act.
  • Assist Chefs in the preparation, cooking, serving, cross checking and packing of the meals for delivery.
  • Undertake general kitchen duties that include cleaning, dishwashing and plating of meals.
  • Ensure all meals produced are of a good visual and nutritional standard in quantities appropriate with resident’s needs.
  • Ensure all special diets are correct in content.
  • Assist in the development, review and maintenance of standard recipes for each menu item.

What we will need from you:

  • A current Food Handlers certificate preferred or a willingness to undertake Food Safety Training.
  • Prior Food Services experience in Aged or Community Care (highly advantageous)
  • Good understanding of Food Safety Requirements
  • Ability to work within a team as well as autonomously
  • Adaptability to changes in the environment.

The Victorian Chief Health Officer has issued directions to help contain the spread of COVID-19 and help keep Victorians safe, including directions to make the COVID-19 vaccination mandatory for employees that are required to attend a workplace. Successful candidates will be required to show evidence of having received 3 doses of the COVID-19 vaccination prior to commencing employment with Wintringham.

 

Vaccination against Influenza is a requirement of employment at Wintringham.

You must be willing to undertake an influenza vaccination each calendar year.
