Wintringham is a specialised non-religious not-for-profit welfare organisation. We are committed to providing older people who are at risk or have experienced homelessness with a range of high-quality care, housing and services. We employ more than 1,000 staff across Victoria and Tasmania

Our Port Melbourne Hostel offers affordable, high-quality accommodation and care to people aged 50 years and over.  We provide a safe, flexible and caring family-style environment, which allows residents to maintain their chosen lifestyles, habits and activities and to be as independent as they choose to be.

 

Your new role

We are currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Cleaner to join our small and tight-knit team on a Part-Time basis. Join our team with a flexible work schedule of 4 days a week for 24 hours weekly. Your specific working hours will be based on your availability, allowing you to start between 8 am and 9 am and finish between 2pm and 3pm. We value flexibility and are open to accommodating your schedule, as long as you cover a total of 6 hours per day.

Your rostered days are as below:

Week 1: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday

Week 2: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday

 

Your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • To clean resident rooms, office space and staff rooms
  • To clean and maintain storage areas.
  • To maintain stock levels and cleaners room.
  • To clean duplex bathrooms and laundries on a scheduled cycle.
  • Cleaning duties as per schedule.
  • Assisting the Food Services & Laundry teams when necessary
  • Abiding by Wintringham’s infection control procedures

We are looking for candidates with the following:

  • Previous experience in a cleaning role (mandatory)
  • Have received, are planning to or willing to receive an Influenza Vaccination
  • Knowledge and understanding of the special needs of older people
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to use cleaning equipment effectively and efficiently
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Physically able to perform required tasks

Applicants who have lived in a country other than Australia for a period longer than 12 months in the last 10 years may be required to undergo an International Police Check.

Successful candidates will be required to comply with the Wintringham Health and Immunisation policy including having three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine as well as a 2024 influenza vaccination before commencing employment and must provide evidence.
