Who are we?

Wintringham provides aged care services to those who are financially disadvantaged and have previously been homeless or are at risk of becoming homeless. We employ over 950 staff and our Ron Conn Nursing Home, located in Avondale Heights, provides high quality accommodation and care to 60 older people who require assistance with daily living and personal care.

 

We are currently seeking multiple enthusiastic and motivated medication- endorsed Personal Care Assistants, Enrolled Endorsed Nurses and Registered Nurses to join our residential team at Ron Conn Nursing Home on a casual basis.  

Please indicate which role you are applying for. Role 1 and Role 2 rosters are as stated below:

 

Role 1 – Personal Care Assistant

Role 2 – Enrolled Endorsed Nurse

Role 3 – Registered Nurse(RN1)

 

Your responsibilities and duties as a PCA will include:

  • Assisting residents with personal care including personal hygiene, dressing, grooming and other activities of daily living
  • To observe and report changes in resident’s behaviour or physical condition
  • To undertake medication management and treatment procedures as directed by the Residential Site Manager or person in charge
  • To liaise with medical practitioners, pharmacists and other health services to provide relevant services for the care and wellbeing of the residents
  • Assisting in the implementation of cigarette and alcohol programs
  • Observing and reporting changes in residents behaviour or physical condition and maintain appropriate documentation as required
  • Providing emotional support to residents.

 

Your responsibilities and duties as EEN will include:

  • To observe and report changes in resident’s behaviour or physical condition
  • To undertake medication management and treatment procedures as directed by the Residential Site Manager or person in charge
  • To liaise with medical practitioners, pharmacists and other health services to provide relevant services for the care and wellbeing of the residents
  • To assist the RN1 with clinical requirements of residents
  • Assisting in the implementation of cigarette and alcohol programs
  • Observing and reporting changes in residents behaviour or physical condition and maintain appropriate documentation as required
  • Providing emotional support to residents.

 

Your responsibilities and duties as RN1 will include:

•     Ensuring that residents and clients receive appropriate services of the highest quality to meet their health care needs.

•     Undertaking clinical reviews of residential

•     Ensuring resident and client care is in line with their values and preferences.

•     Assessing and management of complex care including complex behaviours.

•     Participating in resident and client reviews meetings

•     Provide education and support for Wintringham staff

 

What we will need from you:

Successful applicants will have a Certificate III/IV in Aged Care/Individual Support with completion of medication administration unit (HLTHPS006 - Assist Clients with Medication. It is essential that applicants have excellent communication skills and an understanding of the special needs of older people. Your qualifications and skills will be further supported by:

  • Prior experience in Aged Care/Health Care
  • Prior experience working with people from a financially disadvantaged/homeless background (highly advantageous)
  • Prior experience administering medications to clients/residents is highly advantageous, but not mandatory
  • Completion of medication administration unit (HLTHPS006 - Assist Clients with Medication) is highly advantageous, but not mandatory
  • Food Handler’s Certificate (highly advantageous)
  • A non-judgmental approach with the ability to work with people from varying socio-economic backgrounds
  • Current CPR & First Aid

Applicants who have lived in a country other than Australia for a period longer than 12 months in the last 10 years may be required to undergo an International Police Check.

 

Successful candidates will be required to comply with the Wintringham Health and Immunisation policy including being vaccinated for influenza in 2023 having three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine before commencing employment, and must provide evidence
