Weed Control Operator

Located in the northern rivers area of NSW, Rous County Council is a special-purpose local government organisation that delivers bulk water and provides flood mitigation and weed biosecurity services.

The position

As a member of the Weed Biosecurity and Bush Regeneration team, the Weed Control Operator undertakes targeted surveillance and weed control works on high risk pathways and sites in accordance with Council’s Delivery and Operational Plans.

Qualifications and experience

Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the use and application fo herbicides and associated notification and reporting requirements; identification, surveillance and treatment of weeds, including the ability to interpret, implement and monitor weed management plans; working cooperatively as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision computer literacy (Microsoft office products) and ability to use GIS/GPS devices in field situations are essential.

Conditions of employment

Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Local Government State Award 2014. Salary range $48,300 - $56,500 per annum based on skills and experience and statutory superannuation. A satisfactory health assessment, including drug screening is a pre-requisite to an offer of employment.
