Wintringham is a specialised non-religious not-for-profit welfare organisation. We are committed to providing older people who are at risk or have experienced homelessness with a range of high-quality care, housing and services. We employ more than 1,000 staff across Victoria and Tasmania

Wintringham provides care and support services through residential facilities which assist an older person to retain their chosen lifestyles, habits, and activities and to be as independent as they choose to be.

 

 Your new role

Wintringham is seeking a Recreation Officer to take on weekend shifts McLean Lodge (Travancore) for 5 hours every Saturday. In this role you will assist the Recreation Coordinator to continually develop and facilitate individual recreational pursuits designed to meet the leisure needs of each client. Your roster will be as below:

 

Week 1 & 2: Saturday (0900 – 1400)

 

 Your responsibilities and duties will include:

 

  • Assist with facilitating onsite recreation activities, either with groups of residents or 1:1, as directed by the Coordinator
  • Assist with facilitating offsite recreation activities, including driving the bus, either groups of residents, or 1:1, as directed by the Coordinator
  • Ensuring clients individual recreation interests are established and facilitated.
  • Encouraging clients to maintain their community associations and contacts.
  • Assisting in the maintenance of accurate and relevant documentation is up to date and meets ACFI requirements.
  • Duties as directed by the Recreation Coordinator.

 

We are looking for candidates with the following:

  • Current drivers licence (mandatory)
  • Recreation, Leisure and Lifestyle or equivalent qualifications (soon-to-be or recent graduates are encouraged to apply)
  • Ability and desire to work with clients with challenging and complex needs
  • Interest in social justice issues
  • Prior experience in Homelessness, Aged Care, Welfare, Disability, Allied Health or Community Care
  • Current First Aid Certificate 2 or willing to obtain to obtain

Applicants who have lived in a country other than Australia for a period longer than 12 months in the last 10 years may be required to undergo an International Police Check.

Successful candidates will be required to comply with the Wintringham Health and Immunisation policy including having three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine as well as a 2024 Influenza Immunisation vaccination before commencing employment and must provide evidence.
