Your new role

We are looking for a passionate and professional Recreation Therapist to join our team on a Full-Time basis. This dynamic position is responsible for supporting client recreational outcomes for various portfolios across the relevant area in VIC including HCP, NDIS and FFS. In this role will also supervise Student Placement as required to ensure a high quality and innovative recreational outcomes that meet the needs and goals of clients while liasing with internal and external networks. The focus of this engaging role is to provide the best outcome for our clients.

 

 

Your responsibilities and duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Developing and oversee the implementation of Recreational Therapy assessments and plans for individuals
  • Ensuring programs comply with relevant funding requirements and restrictions
  • Supervising and support student placements to ensure high-quality and innovative recreational outcomes
  • Assisting clients with initial assessments, identifying risks and needs, and planning activities in conjunction with Case Managers and Site Managers
  • Facilitating and leading a community of practice and reflection, aimed at fostering professional development, sharing best practices, and problem-solving among the internal team.
  • Ensuring compliance with funding and legislative requirements.
  • Understanding HCP and NDIS funding models
  • Planning activities and support coordinators in allocating staff to facilitate these activities in accordance with their skills and experience.
  • Supporting Program Managers, Recreation Coordinators, NDIS workers, and other stakeholders in planning and promoting Recreational Therapy programs
  • Liaising with clients’ support networks and family members to support program facilitation.
  • Monitoring budget expectations, including client packaged funds.
  • Developing programs that promote clients’ independence and living skills.

We are looking for candidates with the following:

  • Degree in Therapeutic Recreation or Equivalent
  • Must be certified as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) with the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC)
  • Current drivers’ licence & reliable vehicle (mandatory)
  • An understanding of the Housing and Homelessness Service sector My Aged Care, NDIS and other relevant service systems
  • An understanding of Recreation Principles and the importance of Leisure and lifestyle outcomes, diversional therapy or Recreation therapy
  • Knowledge of and commitment to continuous quality improvement
  • Commitment to the organisation and its philosophy of social justice
  • Well-developed communications skills and the ability to engage with people from varying backgrounds
