Wintringham is a specialised non-religious not-for-profit welfare organisation. We are committed to providing older people who are at risk or have experienced homelessness with a range of high-quality care, housing and services. We employ more than 1,000 staff across Victoria and Tasmania.

Wintringham’s housing program is dedicated to providing safe, affordable, and supportive housing solutions for elderly individuals who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. With a focus on dignity and respect, the program offers a range of housing options tailored to meet the unique needs of each resident. The Recreation program provides recreation services across some of the housing programs.

 

Your new role

We are looking for a passionate and professional Recreation Coordinator to join our team on a Full-Time basis. This dynamic position is responsible for supporting  Wintringham's Planned Activity Group (PAG) program by providing recreational and social activities designed to enhance the well-being and quality of life for our clients. These activities are tailored to individual interests and abilities, promoting social interaction, physical activity, and mental stimulation, thereby fostering a sense of community and belonging.

 

Your responsibilities and duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Coordinate and develop a comprehensive recreation program designed to meet the individual leisure needs of residents.
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date resident records pertaining to program participation.
  • Work collaboratively with residents to establish and facilitate their individual recreational interests, tailoring program approaches to suit their needs.
  • Provide meaningful and engaging programs that cater to the interests and abilities of residents, promoting social interaction, physical activity, and mental stimulation.
  • Deliver services in accordance with relevant guidelines, including the CHSP guidelines, Community Care Common Standards guide, statement of rights and responsibilities, Victorian HACC Program Complaints Policy, and the Victorian Department of Health service agreement.
  • Implement policies and practices related to service coordination, active service models, diversity planning, and volunteer recruitment.
  • Contribute to the development and monitoring of recreation program budgets.
  • Attend and participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
  • Promote recreational opportunities within the broader community, facilitating access to venues, events, and activities.
  • Develop and coordinate a volunteer program.
  • Collaborate with other housing team members regarding program structure and development.

We are looking for candidates with the following:

  • First Aid Certificate 2.
  • A current Victorian motor vehicle driver licence
  • Recreation, Community Development, Psychology or Social Work qualification or equivalent.
  • Have a flexible and motivating attitude.
  • Ability to prioritise work and meet schedules while setting and achieving objectives.
  • Provide direction and support to other recreation workers, and volunteers.
  • Experience in working with older people and recreational program planning/implementation.
  • Knowledge of local area & services and ability to utilise community groups and resources.

Successful candidates will be required to comply with the Wintringham Health and Immunisation policy including having three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine as well as a 2024 Flu Immunisation before commencing employment and must provide evidence.
