  • Competitive base rate: $31.35 – $41.68 per hour (dependent on qualifications) + 25% casual loading

Wintringham is a specialised non-religious not-for-profit welfare organisation. We are committed to providing older people who are at risk or have experienced homelessness with a range of high-quality care, housing and services. We employ more than 1,000 staff across Victoria and Tasmania.

 

 

Your new role

We are looking for passionate candidates who are seeking Casual employment in the Recreation teams various Community Offices including South Eastern, North Western, Hume, Barwon, Grampians and Southern Tasmania Offices. In this role you will assist the Recreation Co-ordinator to continually develop and facilitate individual recreational pursuits designed to meet the leisure needs of each client in the assigned community regions.

Your fortnightly roster will be determined by ad hoc shifts that are made available to provide relief to the teams.

 

 

Your responsibilities and duties will also include:

  • Developing recreation programs, which will assist clients to further develop their everyday living skills to promote independence
  • Being involved in regular meetings with case management staff
  • Encouraging clients to maintain their community associations and contacts
  • Promoting recreational opportunities available within the broader community
  • Facilitating activities that promote access to venues, events and recreational opportunities
  • Facilitating programs that maintain and enhance client independence
  • Maintaining accurate records regarding the range of activities and client participation
  • Being aware of relevant legislative standards and guidelines

We are looking for candidates with the following:

  • A relevant qualification in Leisure and Lifestyle.
  • Experience working with people who are at risk or experienced homelessness.
  • Current drivers’ licence (mandatory)
  • Working reliable vehicle (mandatory)
  • An understanding of complex clients with challenging behaviours.
  • Well-developed communications skills and the ability to engage people from varying backgrounds.
  • First Aid Certificate.

Successful candidates will be required to comply with the Wintringham Health and Immunisation policy including having three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine as well as a 2024 Influenza Immunisation vaccination before commencing employment and must provide evidence.
