Part Time Basis

  • Part Time Basis - two days per week
  • Competitive pay rate: $36.23 - $48.28 (depending on qualifications and experience) per hour + superannuation.
  • Based at our Port Melbourne Hostel (VIC)

Your new role

We’re on the lookout for a Recreation Officer to bring joy, connection, and creativity to the residents at our Port Melbourne Hostel. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of our residents and is perfect for someone looking to balance meaningful work with other commitments. Your roster will be as below:

Week 1: Wednesday (0900 – 1700) & Saturday (1000 – 1500)

Week 2: Wednesday (0900 – 1700) & Saturday (1000 – 1500)

 

 Your responsibilities and duties will include:

  • Facilitate engaging onsite activities—think games, music, art, and more—either in groups or one-on-one
  • Take residents on offsite adventures (yes, you may get to drive the bus!)
  • Discover and support each resident’s unique interests and hobbies
  • Help residents stay connected with their communities and social circles
  • Keep documentation accurate and up to date to meet high standards
  • Collaborate with the Recreation Coordinator to keep things fresh, fun, and meaningful

 

We are looking for candidates with the following:

  • A current driver’s licence
  • A qualification in Recreation, Leisure and Lifestyle (Cert IV or higher)—recent grads welcome!
  • A warm heart and a strong desire to work with people who have complex needs
  • A genuine interest in social justice and making a difference
  • Experience in Aged Care, Homelessness, Disability, Welfare, Allied Health or Community Care
  • A current First Aid Certificate 2 or willingness to obtain one
