About the Role
Working closely with patients, General Practitioners, and the multidisciplinary healthcare team, the Enrolled Nurse plays a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care within the Medical Centre.
The Enrolled Nurse supports the assessment of patient needs and contributes to the delivery of individualized care that promotes physical health, wellbeing, and positive health outcomes. This role provides direct clinical care within scope of practice and supports the coordination of clinical services, working collaboratively with Registered Nurses, GPs, and practice staff to ensure safe, efficient, and evidence-based care.
The Enrolled Nurse also supports quality improvement initiatives and best-practice standards across the Medical Centre in collaboration with the Practice Manager and clinical leadership team.
This role is a part time basis, working three days per week across Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30am to 4:30pm.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide a range of clinical nursing interventions and patient care, in consultation with the Registered Nurse and General Practitioners, and within the scope of enrolled nursing practice.
- Assist with patient assessments and ensure care plans and clinical activities reflect patient needs and current clinical requirements.
- Deliver person-centred care that supports patient dignity, choice, and informed decision-making.
- Assist with clinical procedures including (but not limited to):
- Vital signs and observations
- Wound care and dressings
- Injections and immunisations (as authorised)
- ECGs, pathology collection, and other diagnostic procedures
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation within medical software systems.
- Ensure infection prevention and control standards are adhered to at all times.
- Support patients through education and health promotion activities.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure smooth clinical operations.
Required Skills, Attributes and Experience
- Tertiary qualification in Nursing with current AHPRA registration as an Enrolled Nurse (graduates encouraged to apply).
- Immunisation Certificate (or willingness to obtain) for administering vaccinations and medications to patients, in line with scope of practice and Medical Centre protocols.
- Demonstrated clinical competence with sound assessment, planning, and clinical reasoning skills.
- Compassionate, professional, and patient-focused approach to care.
- Understanding of primary healthcare, medical centre, or community health environments.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable:
- Previous experience in a Medical Centre or General Practice
- Familiarity with clinical software such as Best Practice or MedicalDirector
- Current CPR certificate
