About the Facility
Roshana Lerwin Aged Care is an 80‑bed residential aged care facility in Murray Bridge, South Australia, located close to local health services and community amenities. The home provides modern accommodation, communal spaces and a supportive environment focused on comfort and wellbeing.
We are looking for Hospitality Staff to join our aged care team at Roshana Lerwin Aged Care, in a (casual) capacity.
About the Role
We have opportunities to work as a Kitchen Hand, Cleaner or Laundry Assistant.
The role of the Kitchen Hand/ Cleaner is to provide friendly, attentive, and efficient service and products to our valued customers. This role is also responsible for assisting in the delivery of high-quality products whilst adhering to the policies and procedures of Roshana. For the Laundry Assistant, this position is responsible for providing an effective and efficient laundry service in accordance with laundry schedules, as well as guidelines for effective infection control practices and the principles of safe chemical use. The Laundry Assistant ensures that residents’ personal items of clothing are laundered appropriately and returned to residents on time, as well as ensuring that all residents’ clothing is adequately marked to prevent clothing from being lost or misplaced.
Duties and Responsibilities for Kitchen Hand and Cleaner:
- Deliver consistent high quality customer service to both internal and external customers to the prescribed service standards.
- Prepare food and beverage products to the prescribed standard operating procedures/ duty statement
- Complete cleaning tasks as prescribed by the standard operating procedures/duty statement or as directed by the Chef on duty
- Compliance with food safety program, policies, and procedures
- Advise Chef on duty of any catering related issues and needs where required.
- Maintain stock levels as per stock control systems and procedures to ensure customers’ needs and presentation standards are meet
- To report all workplace hazards immediately e.g., walkway obstructions, poor lighting, faulty electrical equipment, incorrectly stored boxes, or obstructed exit door
- Ensures the facility is kept clean and tidy through the undertaking of pantry, laundry and cleaning duties, in accordance with shift guidelines and cleaning schedules.
- Liaises with the multidisciplinary team to modify and adapt household tasks to meet individual residents’ needs to use their abilities and enable their safe and active participation in tasks that provide a sense of purpose.
- Actively supports residents to assist with pantry, laundry and cleaning tasks as above.
- Actively supports residents to build mutually beneficial relationships with other residents for thepurpose of companionship during household activities.
- Supports residents to follow infection control and other relevant safety practices.
- Ensures the regular replenishing of supplies from the storeroom.
- Ensures items that are accepted by the laundry are suitable to be placed in the equipment/machines.
Skills, Attributes and Experience
- Food Handlers Certificate
- Excellent Communication skills
- Time Management skills
- Written and Verbal communication skills
- Experience working in a commercial kitchen environment
Desirable
- Previous experience in a similar role.
- An understanding of food safe principles.

- Liaises with the multidisciplinary team to modify and adapt household tasks to meet individual resident needs to use their abilities and enable their safe and active participation in tasks that provide a sense of purpose.
- Actively supports residents to assist with pantry, laundry and cleaning tasks as above.
- Always communicates respectfully with residents at a level that is appropriate to each individual’s strengths and limitations.
- Uses flexible and creative approaches with residents to meet duty of care whilst supporting residents’ rights to exercise maximum choice and control during household activities.
- Actively supports residents to build mutually beneficial relationships with other residents for the purpose of companionship during household activities.
- Supports residents to follow infection control and other relevant safety practices.
- Ensures the regular replenishing of supplies from the storeroom.
- Ensures items that are accepted by the laundry are suitable to be placed in the equipment/machines.
Skills, Attributes and Experience
- Personable, with a genuine empathy and enjoyment of working with people who are aged.
- Works well in a team environment.
- Good time management skills.
- Ability to complete a busy and physically demanding workload and respond to changing priorities.
- A high level of comprehension and attention to detail.
- Ability to engage residents through a person-centered approach to care and support.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Good understanding of Occupational Safety and Health principles.
