About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and reliable Maintenance Assistant & Gardener to join our team across our Residential Aged Care facilities in New South Wales. This hands‑on role supports the delivery of a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our residents, families, and staff.

Working closely with the Maintenance and Procurement Manager and facility teams, you will assist with general maintenance tasks, gardening, grounds upkeep, and day‑to‑day operational support.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform general gardening duties including mowing, trimming, weeding, pruning, and maintaining garden beds.

  • Maintain grounds in a neat, tidy, and hazard‑free condition.

  • Assist the Maintenance Officer with routine repairs and maintenance tasks as required.

  • Unload, unpack, and store deliveries safely and efficiently.

  • Support room re‑assignments and furniture moves, including new furniture placement and resident/family requests.

Skills, Attributes and Experience

You will thrive in this role if you enjoy hands‑on work, take pride in presentation and safety, and can work both independently and as part of a team.

You will bring:

  • A trade, handyman, or general gardening background.

  • Experience with gardening, groundskeeping, or facility upkeep.

  • Strong organisation and time‑management skills.

  • A positive work ethic and ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.

  • Good communication and customer service skills.

  • Basic digital literacy (mobile devices, web applications).

  • Experience in a residential aged care setting (highly regarded but not essential).
