About the Role

Working closely with the Facility Manager, this position is responsible coordinating the clinical, care workers and allied health medical resources to meet the needs of residents living at the facility. 

The Clinical Nurse Manager, in collaboration with the Facility Manager and other members of the clinical team, plans, monitors and reviews work practices, systems and processes to maintain high standards and meet the requirements of the Aged Care Act 1997 and Accreditation Principles 2014 – as amended. The Clinical Nurse Manager also manages and coordinates clinical assessments, care plan development and care plan evaluations in collaboration with the Registered Nurses and other members of the health care team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and supervises the day-to-day operations of the clinical and care services to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of care and services to residents. 
  • Ensures care delivery is consistent with excellence in standards of practice. 
  • Coordinates the day-to-day the roster planning to ensure care and services are effectively provided. 
  • Ensures the completion of timely and accurate ANACC assessment documentation to maximise Commonwealth funding. 
  • Coordinates and supports the investigation, review, and response to all clinical incident reporting processes to ensure feedback and incidents are acted upon effectively and in a timely manner. 
  • Ensures clinical and care staff are appropriately educated and competent to carry out their required roles and responsibilities. 
  • Coordinates the implementation of high standards of care for all residents. 
  • Manages the clinical assessment process to ensure that individualised care plans are developed and regularly evaluated and reflect residents’ current care needs. 
  • Ensures appropriate staffing levels and skills mix is available at all times to meet residents’ needs.
  • Utilises negotiation, mediation and conflict resolution skills to ensure optimal staff performance.
  • Promotes a positive team focused approach to care delivery.

Skills, Attributes and Experience

  • Registered Nurse, Current Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. 
  • Demonstrated Contemporary Clinical Assessment Skills. 
  • Demonstrated Clinical supervisory / management experience in a Residential Aged Care Setting. 
  • Effective emotional intelligence and interpersonal communication skills. 
  • Ability to engage with residents and families to promote and foster positive relationships. 
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, influence and lead effective teams. 
  • Knowledge of Aged Care Standards and Accreditation and the Aged Care Funding Instrument (ACFI).
