About The Opportunity
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Manage and deliver environmental licensing and approval processes for State and Federal resource, industrial, and energy projects, while developing strategies for approvals and compliance on medium to large-scale projects
- Develop and implement environmental management systems, plans, policies, and procedures, including Mine Closure Plans, rehabilitation cost estimates, and Environmental Management Plans for design and construction
- Ensure regulatory compliance through assurance activities, environmental risk identification and management, and by reviewing legislation, guidelines, licenses, and permits to provide compliance advice
- Prepare regulatory approval applications, management plans, compliance documents, and offer written advice on approval processes and regulatory matters
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams for desktop and field investigations, conduct site inspections, and manage field assurance activities, including occasional on-site fieldwork
- Manage projects, develop bids, and build relationships with clients and stakeholders, with opportunities to contribute to decarbonisation, ESG initiatives, and environmental offset projects.
About You
The ideal candidate will possess:
- 5+ years of experience in Western Australia and Commonwealth resource approvals and compliance
- A tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related field
- A comprehensive understanding of Western Australia’s environmental legislative framework including the EP Act, Biodiversity Conservation Act, Mining Act, and Rights in Water and Irrigation Act.
- A knowledge of State Agreements in WA and the Australian Commonwealth environmental framework and frameworks other than Western Australia is also desirable
You will also have:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Capability to review and interpret legislation and summarse technical documents for non-technical audiences
- A pragmatic approach to technical interpretation and problem-solving
- The ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and coordinate desktop and field investigations
- A willingness to occasionally travel for field-based work
