About The Opportunity
As the General Manager of our boat insurance business, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations, growth, and underwriting result of the company. You will provide strategic input to ensure the company meets its underwriting profitability and levels and operational goals while maintaining a strong focus on customer service, regulatory compliance, and risk management. This role requires a dynamic individual with deep industry knowledge and proven leadership experience. As part of a small team, hands on claim management and oversight as well as involvement in individual risk underwriting are components of the role.

About You
The successful candidate will have:
- 8+ years of experience in the insurance industry
- 3+ years in a management role
- Previous experience in marine or boat insurance (desirable)
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Insurance, Finance, or a related field
- Professional certifications such as ANZIIF, ACII, or similar (advantageous)
You will also have:
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- An in-depth understanding of New Zealand’s insurance market, regulations, and marine industry
- Proven ability to develop and execute strategic plans
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Financial acumen with experience managing loss ratios and premium income.
