About The Opportunity
The Senior Controlled Environment Engineer will be responsible for conducting indoor air quality (IAQ) investigations and certifying controlled environments such as operating theatres, containment facilities, safety cabinets, and cleanrooms. You will be equipped with all necessary calibrated instrumentation to perform specific testing and will be responsible for delivering comprehensive reports upon completion.
- Independently deliver IAQ and controlled environment projects across hospital, lab, and pharmaceutical settings
- Lead certification of cleanrooms, biosafety cabinets, fume cupboards, isolation rooms, and HEPA filters
- Perform advanced testing of compressed air, biosafety cabinets, fume cupboards, and room pressurisation systems
- Supervise and validate test results for technical accuracy and compliance with standards
- Manage equipment calibration and traceability in accordance with IANZ protocols
- Support Lab Management responsibilities and contribute to IANZ audit readiness
- Assist with project planning and scope review while maintaining client relationships
- Lead internal reviews of IAQ reports and ensure compliance with documentation standards
- Train and mentor junior staff, fostering a collaborative team environment
- Promote health and safety standards and actively contribute to safety audits and improvement initiatives
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement in certification techniques
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- A minimum of 8 years of industry experience
- Cleanroom / Certification testing experience
- Strong technical report writing skills and compliance knowledge
- Exceptional communication and customer service skills
- Solid organisational skills with the ability to multitask
- A high level of integrity and ability to work both autonomously and in a team
- Expertise in HEPA installation and testing, biosafety cabinets, fume cupboards, isolation rooms, and indoor air quality testing
You will also have:
- A full driver’s license
- Current work visa or New Zealand residency
- Leadership experience or a mentoring background
- Strong knowledge of air conditioning systems and air quality
- High proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- A positive attitude, self-motivated with a strong work ethic
- Physical fitness to handle the heavy lifting of testing equipment
