About The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity is available for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing engineering and manufacturing team. This hands-on design role will see you working closely with production, sales, and management to deliver practical, build-ready solutions from concept through to manufacture.

Reporting to the General Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing new machinery and improving existing bulk handling equipment
  • Producing detailed engineering drawings and models using CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Supporting manufacturing with practical, workshop-ready designs
  • Collaborating with production, sales, and management teams to deliver custom solutions
  • Contributing to continuous product improvement, innovation, and standardisation
  • Assisting with design reviews, documentation, and engineering problem-solving

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Proven experience in mechanical design and CAD drafting in a commercial environment
  • Strong proficiency with SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software
  • Sound understanding of mechanical engineering principles and practical application
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and appreciation of manufacturing processes
  • Excellent planning, organisation, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively across departments

You will also ideally have:

  • Experience designing bulk handling equipment, conveyors, or similar machinery
  • A Mechanical Engineering qualification or equivalent industry experience
  • Exposure to workshop environments and production-based engineering
