About The Company

Our client is a trusted New Zealand business operating in the power utilities sector for over 30 years. They design, build, and deliver customised and off-the-shelf products with full customer service and support. With continued growth and a focus on operational excellence, they are seeking a motivated Supply Chain Manager to strengthen their stores, warehousing, and procurement functions.

About The Opportunity

The business has recently upgraded its Warehouse, but the work has only just started. They’ve now created a new role for a supply chain champion to lead their stores team, and maintain and build on the progress they’ve made so far. The primary purpose of this position is to manage procurement, inventory, and supplier relationships, ensuring parts and components are delivered accurately and on time to support production schedules. This is a standalone role building upon the improvements already made. You will have two direct reports and will be reporting to Senior Leadership.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing inventory control, product ordering, and quality control of receipted parts
  • Overseeing supplier relationships and ensuring the timeliness of inventory transactions
  • Liaising with sales, project, production, and finance teams to meet build schedules
  • Supporting system and process improvements across stores and warehousing
  • Overseeing stocktaking, accuracy, and compliance with quality standards
  • Developing purchasing and stores staff, including rotating graduates who are part of the Graduate Programme
  • Building strong relationships across internal departments and external suppliers

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Prior experience in supply chain, procurement, or warehousing
  • Experience in the power/automation sector is desirable
  • Strong skills in problem-solving, reporting, and process management
  • People leadership ability and a track record of team development
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Confidence working autonomously under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • A proactive approach to driving improvements and positive change
