About the Organisation

This not-for-profit is a growing network of 28 affiliated centres operating in more than 40 regional, rural and remote communities across the eastern states of Australia and Norfolk Island.

Collectively, these centres support and connect with students in communities representing a combined population of more than 350,000 people.

The organisation exists to make higher education more accessible for people living in regional communities by providing modern learning facilities, local academic support and a vibrant, student-centred environment close to home.

About the Opportunity

The CEO will lead the organisation into its next phase of growth by delivering strategic and operational plans, amplifying impact across regional Australia, and championing the voices of rural and remote learners.

This is a fully remote role and reflects the organisation's commitment to enabling people to live and work in their communities. The Central team operates remotely across various parts of Australia. While remote, this role requires a significant and consistent travel commitment.

Key responsibilities include:

• Delivering strategic and operational plans in collaboration with the Board
• Driving financial growth through funding agreements and sustainable revenue streams
• Overseeing financial, HR, and compliance functions across a dispersed workforce
• Advocating for regional learners in policy, funding and sector discussions
• Strengthening stakeholder relationships across education, government and communities
• Supporting governance and compliance with timely reporting and risk oversight
• Guiding Centre Managers and local governance bodies
• Travelling extensively across Australia, including at short notice and outside standard hours

About You

You will bring:

• Deep understanding of the needs and opportunities in regional, rural and remote communities
• Proven success leading remote, geographically dispersed teams
• Experience delivering strategic growth and operational outcomes
• Strong governance knowledge and Board engagement experience
• Sophisticated understanding of the higher education sector and relevant legislation
• Background working with universities, TAFE and other tertiary providers
• Trusted relationships across higher education, government and regional networks
• Demonstrated advocacy experience and ability to influence policy or funding
• Track record in securing funding through partnerships and campaigns
• Values-driven leadership grounded in equity, transparency and integrity
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for negotiating, influencing and consulting
• Ability to lead performance and accountability across all business functions
• Collaborative approach to engaging stakeholders and aligning teams with purpose
