Our client operates a unique rural early childhood education centre in Palmerston North, offering nature and animal-based learning in a peaceful country setting. About The Opportunity

  • Lead and support a team of 5-6 kaiako within a full-time early learning environment
  • Work closely alongside the Centre Manager and wider leadership team
  • Foster a positive, respectful and collaborative team culture
  • Guide professional growth through coaching, feedback and reflective practice
  • Support responsive, culturally sustaining and developmentally appropriate learning experiences
  • Promote nature-based and animal-focused learning opportunities for tamariki
  • Build strong relationships with tamariki, whānau, kaiako and the wider community
  • Ensure compliance with ECE regulations, licensing criteria, centre policies and health and safety standards
  • Oversee staff rostering, classroom reviews and evaluations to support continuous improvement

About You

  • NZQA-recognised ECE or Primary Teaching qualification
  • Current NZ Teaching Registration/Certification
  • Proven leadership experience within an ECE setting
  • Strong knowledge of ECE regulations and compliance requirements
  • Excellent communication, organisation and relationship-building skills
  • Confidence mentoring, supporting and inspiring a teaching team
  • A collaborative, approachable and professional leadership style
  • Passion for high-quality early childhood education, inclusive practice and culturally responsive teaching
  • Appreciation for nature-based learning, animals and outdoor environments
