About The Company

Our client is a family-owned Australian manufacturer that has been designing and building machinery and equipment since 1962. Operating from Notting Hill, they manufacture, install and support process and test equipment across the mining, clay and brick, and general industrial sectors.

With engineering and manufacturing located under one roof, their tradespeople work closely with project engineers throughout equipment builds, providing direct access to technical support and the opportunity to see complete projects come together.

About The Opportunity

The primary purpose of this position is to fabricate, weld and assemble machinery and process equipment across a varied pipeline of mining, process and general industrial projects.

Working from certified drawings, Work Instructions and Inspection & Test Plans, some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Fabricate and weld structural and non-structural components in carbon and stainless steel
  • Produce mining spares, wear components, pipework and material handling framework
  • Complete new equipment builds from cutting and preparation through to final assembly
  • Refurbish, repair and maintain existing machinery and industrial plant
  • Read engineering drawings and identify fit-up issues or errors before fabrication
  • Work alongside tradespeople and engineers throughout equipment assembly and testing
  • Complete occasional site installation, servicing and fault-finding across Victoria and interstate

You will also have opportunities to support apprentices and less experienced team members across the workshop.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Australian-recognised Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade or equivalent
  • Proven hands-on MIG and stick welding capability
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, tolerances and required finishes
  • Strong understanding of safe work practices and OH&S requirements
  • Excellent attention to detail with pride in producing quality workmanship
  • Proactive approach to identifying and raising fabrication or technical issues
  • Ability to work effectively within a small team across varied projects

TIG welding experience, LF Forklift, DG Dogging, overhead crane experience, Construction Induction Card and welding qualifications to AS/NZS 1554 or AS 1796 will be highly regarded. Mining, minerals processing, brick or heavy industrial experience will also be advantageous.
