About The Company
Our client is Australia's pioneering online thoroughbred auction platform. Founded in Sydney in 2014, this 100% Australian owned and independent business runs weekly auctions across Australia and New Zealand, along with a separate US site. The business is growing fast and is ready to take its sales function to the next level.
About The Opportunity
The primary purpose of this position is to build a proper commercial structure around the sales function and scale it. You'll combine running business as usual with building new revenue streams from the ground up. This is a rare chance to lead the growth of three distinct revenue streams: telemarketing, advertising and partnerships, and a commission-based agent network.
Reporting directly to the COO, some of your responsibilities will include:
- Leading negotiations with large partners and clients
- Personally managing a portfolio of top-tier clients
- Setting up and growing advertising and partnership sales
- Setting budgets, KPIs and revenue plans across all three streams
- Running the telemarketing team day to day and using CRM data to lift results
- Building a commission-based agent network and recruiting the regional sales team from scratch
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Proven scale-up experience, which is essential
- A proven track record as a hands-on individual seller
- Commercial maturity and experience leading remote or regional staff
- Experience building sales teams, ideally as a deputy or step-up sales leader
- Thoroughbred or equine industry experience (preferred), or a comparable background such as real estate
- An adaptable, goal-driven and hands-on approach, ready to do the work without layers of corporate support
