Racing Victoria Limited (RV) is one of Australia’s leading sporting organisations and is the governing body of thoroughbred racing in Victoria. We develop, promote and manage the conduct of thoroughbred horse racing in Victoria, with our aim to provide the best racing to our customers and encourage more people to engage with and enjoy our great sport.

Racing Victoria are looking for a General Manager- Marketing and Owner Engagement to join the team.

The Opportunity:

Reporting directly to the General Manager- Stakeholder, Government and Customer, this role is responsible for driving engagement with Victorian thoroughbred racing; remove barriers to engagement, maintain existing customer and engage new prospects.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Define, lead and review Racing Victoria’s customer marketing delivery roadmap and program of digital, research, campaign and tactical initiatives to ensure successful delivery and performance.
  • Establish, define and manage delivery of all Victorian thoroughbred racing research requirements to develop an understanding of customers’ needs, preferences & behaviours to formulate effective targeting strategies and customer insights that deliver increased ROI and commercial value.
  • Lead the design, development and implementation of a new brand strategy for the Victorian thoroughbred racing industry
  • Define and establish the digital eco-system for customer communications and engagement and oversee the development and delivery of Racing Victoria’s customer-facing digital touch-points/channels.
  • Accountability for reviewing, auditing and managing all existing media, digital and creative agency commercial relationships.
  • Develop, prepare and submit all Government funding submissions for VRIF and RAP funding applications relating to the VOBIS program and customer, events and marketing activity.
  • Define, set and allocate annual industry media integration requirements.
  • Budget, risk and reporting responsibilities.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of a strong high performance, inclusive environment in the business through effective people leadership and mentoring.

About you:

As the successful candidate, you must possess the following:

  • Significant experience and proven success developing and executing customer marketing and brand strategic plans with campaign management experience gained in leading large-scale omni-channel consumer campaigns.
  • Significant experience working with martech platforms, CRM, data analytics and a comprehensive understanding of digital environments.
  • Demonstrable experience in the successful development and implementation of content platforms, websites and CRM solutions that engage/communicate with end consumers.
  • Extensive qualitative, quantitative and ethnographic research design experience with the ability to define/formulate research hypothesis and guide research objectives to deliver actionable insights and outcomes.
  • The ability to engage and influence senior business leaders and key stakeholders, as well as work in cross functional teams to deliver outcomes.
  • Ability to define and embed organisational strategies that are aligned with organisational objectives and likely future requirements.
  • Strong commitment to achieving key outcomes for the organisation and an ability to galvanise others to act.
  • Applies a thorough understanding of recurrent and capital financial terminology, policies and processes to planning, forecasting and budget preparation and management.
  • Marketing degree and or an associated post graduate qualification.
