Racing Victoria (RV) is one of Australia’s leading sporting organisations, and the independent governing body of thoroughbred racing in Victoria. We develop, promote and manage the conduct of the racing of thoroughbred horses in Victoria to safeguard its integrity.
About the Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Stipendiary Steward or an Investigator with a strong equine background to join our Compliance Assurance Team within our Integrity Unit. As a key member of our team you will investigate and conduct investigations into potential breaches of the Rules of Racing and related legislation.
You will be involved in planning, coordinating and executing tactics to achieve investigation objectives, conducting surveillance and stable inspections throughout Victoria. You will also prepare briefs of evidence involving the investigation, identification, collection, preparation and presentation of evidence as required at Victorian Racing Tribunal and other bodies as required. In addition to this you will make sound and timely recommendations to be taken in response to assessments of complaints.
A key component of performing these tasks will be your ability to interact with a diverse range of key personnel/stakeholders and participants from across the racing industry in a professional manner.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Extensive knowledge and experience of processes and practices used in investigations of a complex and sensitive nature.
- Demonstrated extensive experience in using traditional and contemporary interviewing and other investigative techniques.
- Demonstrated experience and capability in producing briefs of evidence and preparation for the conduct of processes involving inquiries, hearings, and appeals.
- Strong equine background with understanding of thoroughbred training practices, horse husbandry.
- Excellent knowledge of the Racing Industry
- Understanding of prohibited substances and testing protocols
- Thorough knowledge of betting and betting markets.
- An impeccable record of integrity, tact and ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information.
- A keen and genuine interest in the thoroughbred racing industry and best practice knowledge of equine management and husbandry skills.
- In depth understanding of the Rules of Racing and associated legislation, and exposure to sports disciplinary tribunals will be highly regarded.
- Exemplary communication and interpersonal skills to interact with a diverse range of key stakeholders from across the Industry in a professional manner, which up-holds the integrity of racing.
- A valid Victorian Driver’s License.
